Over the weekend, my LA Cupcakes MeetUp Group met to try web-based bakery, Cupcake and Cookie! The owner and baker, Dorothy Tong, was on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars in December and won the Hard Rock episode! Since Dorothy doesn't have a store front (yet!), we met at a park in Culver City, where she brought her cupcakes to try. The flavors that we tasted included: Chocolate Covered Banana, Cheesecake filled Red Velvet, Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Sea Salt Caramel Vanilla and her Cupcake Wars' winning cupcake - Pink Grapefruit Cupcakes with Guava Truffle Cookies and Rosewater Frosting.
I loved that her cupcakes were moist and the icing not too heavy or sweet, but a perfect pairing. Some of the cupcakes also had a hidden cookie or filling surprise. My favorites were the Red Velvet Cupcake which had cheesecake cookie chunks inside and the Chocolate Cupcake with cookie dough inside. Yum! My husband, being a peanut butter fan, liked the Chocolate Covered Banana Cupcake, which also had peanut butter frosting underneath the chocolate shell.
So, If you're looking for a great cupcake delivery service to cater your next shin dig, definitely give Dorothy a call.
so bummed i couldn't make it to this. but man do those cupcakes look delicious, especially that red velvet, mmmm.

ReplyDeleteI just watched that episode of Cupcake Wars yesterday! Her Hard Rock 1000 cupcake pink Cadillac display was amazing! I was rooting for her! Wish I could have made this meetup. Looks like it was a great time!
