An Impressive Press-On Manicure

Although I love color, I never use colored nail polish on my finger nails when getting a manicure. I'm too rough and clumsy with my hands that they will chip within a day or two. And when you have colored polish it makes the chips all the more noticeable and ugly. So, I'm forced to go with boring clears and barely there pinks.

I even tried Gel Manicures, which lasted for awhile without chipping and looked great. I loved typing and seeing the color on my nails. However, whenever I would remove the gel nails it left my nails really weak and ugly. It was also more costly than a regular mani. So, I reluctantly went back to using clear nail polish again.

Then, I recently used imPRESS Press-On Manicure by Broadway Nails, which I received at BlogHer 13 when visiting their booth. I was really "impressed" with them ;) I didn't know what to expect since the idea of press-on nails seemed cheap and so 80s. I figured they would feel weird and fall off by the end of the day. They ended up lasting me a week! Also, once on, I didn't even feel them as they were nice and light and seemed like my own nails. I soon forgot they were there. I felt fierce and glamours and everyone kept complementing me on them too.

Putting them on is a synch – simply peel off, press on, and you're done (NO glue needed!). There's no drying time, a killer shine and a manicure that lasts up to a week! They also come with way more than 10 nails, so you can pick which size fits which finger. I once again had color on my nails and best of all, when I peeled them off it didn't require any chemicals and my nails underneath looked good as new. No damage.

You can pick from solid colors or fun designs that you couldn't achieve with regular nail polish, unless you are an amazing artist or spent a fortune to get them done. imPRESS costs $5.99 for color set or $7.99 for pattern. Available at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart and more. They come in short, medium and long sizes. I actually have long nails, but the short felt the most comfortable in terms of length. I used the medium too, but I had to clip them back a bit.

I've used imPRESS three times now for special occasions like for my sons' baptismal where I went with this fun peacock design because it matched my teal dress.

I also like the idea of putting a plain color on all of your nails except for one and using a complimentary design on it like below. Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt did something similar with her imPRESS manicure.

So, what do you think? Like I said, I was skeptical, but now I'm a fan. Definitely check it out. You can also download a free $1 off coupon on their website.

PS: It's not easy to photograph nails to capture the detail without your hands looking scary and big.

  1. These sound awesome! Like you, I hate to have my nails chip after a day or two. I love bright colors of my nails, but then I go around looking ragged when the polish begins to chip. I definitely don't have the patience to touch up every day. I would have thought press-on nails would be quite weak, so I'm impressed (lol, there I go!) that they lasted you a whole week. Sounds good to me!!

  4. I have the same problem with my nails. I can never wear polish even though I like having color on them. I wonder how long they will last when your hands are in water a lot.

  5. These are nice but I have never been able to keep them adhered to my nails longer than 2 or 3 days.
