Snow White and the Huntsman Movie Night

Snow White and the Huntsman starring Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and they hunky Chris Hemsworth comes out on DVD, Blu-Ray and Movies on Demand tomorrow. Fortunately though, NBC and [yellow tail] wines provided me with an advanced copy of the film and some wine and snacks so that my girlfriends and I could have an at-home viewing party over the weekend.

Because I'm corny and all about themes, I was originally going to have everyone where white to go with the Snow "White" name, but then I realized I didn't have any white maternity clothes and it's after Labor Day after all. Too bad I couldn't fit into my previous Snow White Halloween costume either. Instead, I wore the red headband like the original Snow White cartoon for some added flair. To complete the fairy tale look, we also donned fun masquerade masks.

We uncorked our movie night with bottles of [yellow tail] Shiraz and Chardonnay, while munching on popcorn and candy from the Popcorn Factory.

None of us had seen the film yet and it was darker than I even expected, but in a good way, an adult story telling of the famous fable. The battle scenes reminded me of Lord of the Rings. I also thought with a hottie like Chris in the film, a romance would be intertwined in the story as well, but it was more like a love triangle and it definitely took a back seat to the adventure. Charlize definitely stole the show as the evil, war-like queen. Have you seen it yet? What do you think?

Snow White Party Ideas:

Snowy Candy Apples! Candy apples dipped in coconut shavings for a fallen snow look with a tempting red apple underneath.

If I was able to imbibe more than a few sips of wine, I would have made these Red Hot Candy Apple Jello Shots (in real apples). Although nothing is stopping you from trying this neat party idea now with cinnamon schnapps or vodka mixed in! ;)
