The Groundlings Holiday Show

For an early birthday (officially on the 9th) celebration, last Saturday a group of us ate at the Argentinean restaurant LaLa's in West Hollywood and then headed to the annual improv and sketch holiday show at the Groundlings Theater--the comedy school which started the careers of Phil Hartman, Lisa Kudrow, Will Ferrel, Kathy Griffin, Paul Rubens and Jon Lovitz. It's our third year going to see their holiday show, we look forward to it every year. Being a big sitcom fan I immediately recognized some of the improvers including Joey co-star Ben Falcone, Jim Rash from The Naked Truth, Mikey Day currently in Kath & Kim and my favorite, Melissa McCarthy who plays the funny friend in Samantha Who?

After the show Raphael met the comedienne of his favorite sketch there, Baby New Year, which he ended up being a part of this year since they called on him from the audience and I got to meet Melissa who kindly took a photo with me:

The Groundlings holiday show meanwhile runs until Dec. 20th and has performances on Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 8 and 10 p.m. Call to reserve your tickets though since it's a small theater.

  4. UM...HOLY MOLY! Love Dena!!!

AND - she's from Plainfield... I'm from Bolingbrook - which probably means NOTHING to most people - but...Melissa would know.

If I lived in LA - we would TOTALLY be caffeine pals!
